<title>Sep 30, Hit by the Credit Crunch? Have a cuppa ...</title>
    <link>http://www.essentially-england.com/England-blog.html#Hit-by-the-Credit-Crunch?-Have-a-cuppa-...</link>
<description>We&#39;ve watched the rise of Starbucks, Costa and Coffee Republic. We&#39;ve seen dinky aluminium tables and matching umbrellas crowd the pavements. Sales of coffee pots and coffee making accessories have soared.

But now English afternoon tea is hitting back and all thanks to the credit crunch, apparently!

Instead of a grande cappuccino and a double choc chip muffin, young Brits turn increasingly to a pot of tea and a plate of scones, shared with a friend. It&#39;s cheaper, but also far more relaxing than a cardboard cup on the run.

Teashops and cafes all over the country report an increase in business. And during a time when many small businesses struggle, that can only be a good thing.

So be patriotic and shore up the ailing economy. Treat yourself to a proper English afternoon tea!

Should you don&#39;t know what English afternoon tea is all about, you can find out &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.essentially-england.com/afternoon-tea.html&quot;&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.</description>
