English Christmas Cookies

What are some popular types of Christmas cookies in England? Do people like gingerbread? Sugar cookies? Peanut butter?

Most English people are very traditional in their Christmas tastes. Favourite sweets at this time of the year are Mince Pies, served either with tea or mulled wine.

Shortbread is an eternal favourite, especially at teatime, and children of all ages love fancily decorated cup cakes and fairy cakes.

Christmas cake - a very rich, decorated fruitcake - is most often served over the Christmas holidays, but can be offered in the run-up to the big day.

And many families have their own traditional cakes and biscuits. Gingerbread and other festive cookies can be found in the shops, but are perhaps not so much associated with Christmas as they are in other parts of the world.
