Travelling to England with a Camera

Do I have to have proof of ownership for my cameras coming from the U.S.?

Answer:

If you're a tourist coming on a visit to Britain and you bring your camera to take holiday snaps, then I don't think you need to provide proof of ownership.

But if you're a photographer, professional or not, and you bring several cameras, or very expensive equipment, then I would probably bring some proof of ownership - just to be on the safe side.

It's easier to deal with the insurance claims etc. should your cameras get lost, damaged or - heaven forbid - stolen.

If you're a UK citizen and have bought camera equipment in the US during your stay, you have pay tax on the items when you come home. That also applies to item you buy online and have shipped to the UK.
There's an interesting article dealing with these issues.
