Welcome home gifts

by Patrick

What would be a traditional gift given to someone from England who had been gone for a year or two and was returning home? What would you buy them to welcome them home??

Answer:

I'd go for something that reminds your friend that they are back home. Or something they might have missed while they were away.

Think of items that may not be available in the country where your friend stayed: certain foods (black pudding, Christmas cake, Cheddar cheese, steak and kidney pie, treacle sponge pudding etc.) are very traditionally English and may not be able to find abroad.

While your friend was abroad, he or she may have missed a favourite TV programme or comedy show. Maybe get them a DVD to welcome them home.

And then, there are always books....
