What good places are there to visit in England?

I want to know what good places there are in England (the minimum 4). We are doing a project here in my school, and i want to know EVEYRTHING about England. I'm in high school, and I want to know the best places.

That's not an easy question to answer, because people like different things and England has so much to offer from beautiful landscape to great activities, beautiful gardens, glittering cities and 6000 years of history.
So here's a little selection of places you could go see:

1. One of England's best known monuments, Stonehenge is an ancient stone circle on Salisbury Plain. It's one of the most photographed places in England.

2. The Tower of London. Another image that everyone knows about England, this is the castle William the Conqueror built after he defeated King Harold at the Battle of Hastings and took England for his own.

3. Dover Castle. A real experience. Dover, high on the white cliffs overlooking the English channel, has guarded England's coast for centuries. It's one of England's longest-used castles, as it was begun by the Normans but still saw to our country's defence in World War II.

4. Tintagel Castle: if you love mythology, then Tintagel is a place not to be missed. It's the birthplace of King Arthur, the King that once was and the King that will be again. Stand high on the rocks, watch the waves crashing into the cliffs below and imagine yourself in Arthur's realm.

1. London. To be tired of London is to be tired of life - or so it is said. You could spend a month here and still not see everything this wonderful city has to offer. There are all the famous sights, of course. And many unexpected ones.

2. Liverpool. This city has soul - and music. If you love The Beatles and their music, come here to explore.

3. Canterbury. The heart of Christianity in England. Wonderfully old-fashioned and peaceful, with a most wonderful cathedral.

4. Oxford. Famous for its university, wonderful college buildings, dreaming spires, Alice in Wonderland, Tolkien and Bangers and Mash. Come to wander around and soak up the atmosphere.

All named previous are good, depending on what you want you want to do? Noted, no mention of

"The Lake District" North West England (Cumbria) - Natural beauty to be seen no where else. Was home and still is inspirational to the great poets, and Beatrix Potter.

Alnick Castle - North East England - wonderful.

Stratford-upon-Avon - the home of Shakespeare, and Anne Hathaway's Cottage, and gardens.

There are many, many more that say "this is England", but none more than the good old "English Pub" - traditional ales, food, and atmosphere.

My advise, get away from London, just another large metropolis, go further, see the real England.
