Welcome to the return of Essentially England News! We hope you’ve all had a successful start to the New Year.

We managed a trip to our favourite empty beach on Christmas Day and while it was freezing cold for England and blowing a gale, we enjoyed the chance to see something other than the village immensely. There aren't many things that say new beginning as much as standing on a beach and looking out to sea.

After the last two years, most of us have high hopes for 2022 – and the two of us are no different.

We’re looking forward to England opening up again.

We’re looking forward to visiting historical sites, stately homes, and beautiful gardens, to attending festivals and eating out.

And we’re looking forward to finding intriguing stories, ideas for holidays and days out, stunning places to stay, and tasty recipes to share with you all.
